Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of jahive.com and your purchases from Jahive. By browsing the site or placing an order, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

About Jahive

Jahive is a sole-proprietor small business based in Charlotte, North Carolina, owned and operated by Jacqueline Allyn Hyman. We sell raw NC honey, small-batch spice blends, herbal teas, and handmade crochet goods.

Cottage Food Disclosure

Our spice blends and herbal teas are made in a home kitchen and are not subject to North Carolina food safety regulations. This is required disclosure under NC cottage food rules. Our raw honey is sourced from a licensed NC beekeeper (Jackson Family Honey, beekeeping since 1972) and packed by Jahive in Charlotte.

Infant Honey Warning

Do not feed honey to infants under 1 year of age. Per FDA and CDC guidance, raw honey may contain spores that cause infant botulism, a rare but serious illness. Honey is safe for everyone over 1 year of age.

Allergens & Ingredients

Full ingredient lists for spice blends and teas are on every product label and on this website. Both spice blends contain garlic and onion. Both teas contain multiple botanicals (see ingredient lists in our FAQ). Our products are made in a home kitchen that handles a variety of ingredients — if you have a serious allergy, please review ingredients carefully or contact us before ordering.

Orders & Payment

When you place an order:

Pickup & Local Delivery

Jahive offers free pickup at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market and free local Charlotte delivery on orders of $100 or more. We do not currently ship products. Full details are in our Refund & Pickup Policy.

Custom Orders (Crochet)

Custom crochet orders are arranged directly via Instagram DM (@jahive2026) or email. Custom orders are non-refundable once production begins. We will provide an estimated completion date when you order, but handmade work takes time and we ask for patience.

Product Quality & Warranties

We stand behind our products. If something arrives damaged, spoiled, or genuinely defective, contact us within 7 days and we'll make it right (replacement, refund, or store credit — your choice). Beyond that, products are sold "as is" — natural variation in raw honey color, viscosity, and crystallization is normal and not a defect. Honey crystallization is reversible: warm the closed jar in hot water.

Use of the Site

You agree not to:

Intellectual Property

The Jahive name, logo, label designs, written content, and photography are the property of Jahive and Jacqueline Allyn Hyman. Please don't copy, reuse, or republish without written permission. The bee educational facts and stats we share are our compilation; underlying scientific data belongs to its respective sources (USDA, Honey Bee Health Coalition, etc.).

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jahive's total liability for any claim arising from your purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the product in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages. This does not limit any rights you have under federal or NC consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

You are responsible for using our products safely and according to label directions, including the infant honey warning and any allergen considerations.

Disputes

If you have a complaint, please contact us first — we genuinely want to make things right. If we can't resolve it directly, any dispute will be governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, and the venue is Mecklenburg County, NC.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the new terms.
