Who We Are

Jahive is a sole-proprietor small business based in Charlotte, North Carolina, owned and operated by Jacqueline Allyn Hyman. We sell raw NC honey, small-batch spice blends, herbal teas, and handmade crochet goods online at jahive.com and in person at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market.

Information We Collect

We only collect what we need to fulfill your order and stay in touch about it. That includes:

Information you give us at checkout: name, email address, phone number, delivery address (only if you choose local delivery), and any order notes you write.
Order details: what you bought, quantities, total paid, and which payment method you used.
Communications: any messages you send us by email or Instagram DM.
Basic site data: our site is hosted on Netlify, which logs basic technical information like IP address and browser type for security and performance. We do not run analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies on jahive.com.

How Payment Information Is Handled

We do not see, store, or process your credit card or banking information. When you pay through Square, Cash App, or PayPal, you are interacting directly with that company. Each has its own privacy policy:

We only receive a confirmation that you paid and the amount.

How We Use Your Information

To fulfill your order — confirm it, prepare it, and arrange pickup or local delivery.
To contact you if there's a question about your order, a delay, or a problem.
To respond to messages you send us.
To keep basic records as required by tax law.

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing. We do not send unsolicited promotional emails. If we ever start an email newsletter, it will be opt-in only.

Cookies & Tracking

The shopping basket on jahive.com uses temporary in-memory storage that disappears when you close the page. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider (Netlify) may set basic technical cookies for security, which you can control in your browser settings.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep order records for as long as needed for tax and accounting purposes (typically 4 to 7 years under federal and NC state tax law). After that, records are deleted. You can request deletion of your contact information at any time by emailing us — we'll honor it within 30 days, except for records we're required by law to keep.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Know what information we have about you.
Correct any inaccurate information.
Delete your contact information from our records (subject to tax record-keeping requirements).
Opt out of any future communications.

If you live in California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information has been collected, to request deletion, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. Children

Jahive products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please email us and we will delete it.

Important food safety note: Honey should not be given to children under 1 year of age due to the risk of infant botulism (FDA guidance).

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no website is 100% secure. If we ever experience a data breach that affects you, we will notify you as required by law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will tell you when. If we make material changes, we'll note it on the homepage.
