Raw honey & handmade goods built with intention in Charlotte, NC

"What you put your name on should mean something."

β€” Jacqueline Allyn Hyman Β· Charlotte, NC

Jahive was built by someone who spent years excelling in other people's rooms. Culinary school and professional kitchens. Telecom sales leadership. The construction industry. Kickboxing fitness instruction. Every path was built on real skill β€” and every one of them asked her to trade time for someone else's schedule while still carrying full responsibility for her family.

The pivot to Jahive was not a fall backward. It was the first time the work matched the life. A business built for flexibility β€” one that grows on its own terms and makes room for everything that matters, not just the work.

The name comes from her initials β€” JAH β€” and the hive. Because a hive runs on collective work, individual contribution, and the understanding that what one bee does matters to the whole. That is exactly how this is built.

🐝 Our Honey Partnership

We partner with a family-owned North Carolina beekeeping operation with hives across the Carolinas β€” keeping bees since 1972. Raw, unfiltered, and traceable. Product of North Carolina, USA. This is the honey we stake the Jahive name on.

The good stuff, made the slow way

Eight products. All small-batch, all intentional. Free pickup at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market. Free local Charlotte delivery on orders over $100. We don't ship β€” yet.

🧺 Your Basket

Your basket is empty β€” go grab some honey 🍯

2025 was a terrible year for bees.

According to the USDA and the Honey Bee Health Coalition, 2025 was the worst year for honeybee colony loss on record. Buying from local beekeepers is one of the most direct ways to support the people working to keep these colonies alive.

62%
of US commercial honeybee colonies lost June 2024–March 2025 β€” worst year on record (USDA)
1.6M
colonies lost in a single year β€” $600M in lost honey and pollination income
$30B
worth of US crops pollinated by honeybees annually β€” almonds, apples, berries, more
1/12
teaspoon of honey is all one bee produces in her entire lifetime β€” every jar matters

"Buying local honey is one of the most direct ways to support the people keeping American bees alive."

β€” Jahive Β· Charlotte, NC

A Charlotte family, a Carolina beekeeper, and a hive of a story

Before Jahive, there were kitchens, classrooms, sales floors, construction sites, and fitness studios. Years of building skills in every direction β€” culinary training, coaching, leadership, project work β€” all of it excellent, none of it fully hers. Every pivot was intentional. Every path taught something. But ownership kept being the thing just out of reach.

Jahive changed that. It started with a jar of honey and a conviction that the right product, sold by the person who believes in it, does not need a company behind it to matter. Raw honey from a North Carolina family that has been keeping bees since 1972. Spice blends built from years of cooking and a love of bold flavor. Herbal teas hand-blended in Charlotte. Crochet goods made by hand, one piece at a time.

The hive in the name is not just metaphor. A hive runs on collective work, individual contribution, and the understanding that what one bee does matters to the whole. Every jar sold supports a local beekeeper, every market visit supports a small business, and every purchase goes directly to the person who made it possible.

Things people ask before they order

Yes. Our honey comes from Jackson Family Honey, NC beekeepers since 1972. It is raw, unfiltered, and traceable to Carolina hives β€” never heated above hive temperature, never blended with imported honey, never ultra-filtered. Crystallization is normal and a sign of quality; warm the jar in hot water to liquify.
No. Per FDA and CDC guidance, raw honey should never be given to children under 1 year old due to the risk of infant botulism. This applies to all raw honey, including ours. Honey is safe for everyone over 1 year of age.
Raw honey is one of the only foods that does not spoil β€” properly stored honey from Egyptian tombs has been found edible after 3,000 years. Store at room temperature, sealed, away from direct sunlight. If it crystallizes, it's still good β€” warm the closed jar in hot water and stir.
